Mijas surf club’s crush of the week: Jen Santarossa
how rad is jen santarossa? jen is the cool girl you always wish you could sit with at the lunch table. she radiates epic style, has a supernatural gift with aesthetics, and rocks enviable sleeves like it ain’t no thang. she is not only our friend, mijas model, and resident vibe-bringer, she is the hands heart behind our pearl necklaces.
so, yeah, she’s for sure one of our fave girls and pretty much the sister we all wish we had. as you enjoy our interview with jen, we hope you love getting to know this skate babe as much as we do!
Q: What are you loving right now?
A: Thrifting. Sniffing out vintage Hawaiian shirts, post cards, embroidered linen, and tchotchkes. Sewing scrunchies with my daughter using rad old pillow cases and said Hawaiian shirts. So fun to see her work with her hands. Proud mom:)
Q: Favorite car karaoke song?
A: Oh my gosh. Gypsies, Tramps, & Thieves by Cher. I can really nail the Cher accent in that one.
Q: What’s in your beach bag?
A: Monoi Tiki Tahiti Tiare oil, heaven on earth, gang. Sunbum sunscreen, Trader Joe’s version of Takis, a few mandarins. I’ve recently taken up surprising my girlfriends with iced coffee so at times you’ll find a jug of iced coffee, cream in a mason jar, ice from a ziplock. Dude the look on their faces every time is worth the extra weight.
Q: Fave recipe?
A: I’m loving throwing grilled chicken on top of this Avocado Grapefruit Salad from Magnolia Table.
Chop it up:
2 Grapefruit, 2 heads of either butter lettuce or Bibb lettuce, 3 avocados
Dress it:
1 T each of honey, fresh lime juice
2 T grapefruit juice, 2 T olive oil
1/2 t kosher salt
pinch of pepper
Top it off:
1 T cilantro, 1 T parsley
pinch of flaky sea salt
*if you’re adding grilled chicken you may wanna lay off the salt as the chicken or added protein may be seasoned enough to give the sweetness of the dressing balance.

This one’s for the lovers. When you think of your most adored sweatshirt—the one you reach for over and over—this is it. Lined in ultra-soft fleece it makes us want to climb into this baby sans undershirt and get our cuddles on. mijas surf club’s girl crush: casi jean
casi is the smart and beautiful mastermind behind all of mijas del mar’s social media. her love of life and personal style are next level, plus, she is kind (basically, she’s a unicorn). we love us some casi and we want you to know and love her, too.
Q: What are you loving right now?
A: Yerba Mate with honey in the morning, gardening, hot beach days when available, the entire BillabongXWrangler Collection, Zoey Kaina and the Stab High Lady Birds and the roping steer in my backyard ( I’m getting surprisingly good ).
Q:Favorite car karaoke song?
A: Justin Bieber overall … how can you not.
Q:Fave Recipe?
A: I’m constantly making Kale Salad. The key is massage the kale with olive oil. Here’s the recipe for my homemade dressing : ( sorry I get it from my grandmother to never measure, always taste )
Olive oil to equal Soy sauce & lemon
A little avo ( like a 1/4 )
A clove or two of garlic
Honey mustard
Mix in a vitamix, should be creamy and equal fatty to zingy.
This pairs perfectly with my husbands seasoned steak recipe but good luck getting that from him ;)
Q: What’s in your beach bag?
A: First things first - can we talk about the Honolulu Bag? It’s my go to! I’m filling it with Sunbum Sunscreen, Pirette ( Coco Ho forever ), and a good book - I just finished Malibu Rising and am excited to jump into Lonesome Dove. I always have a good lip balm and I joke with my husband my fee for filming him surf is a hard cider from our favorite Tin City in Los Olivos ( wrapped in a Mijas kooz of course ;) ) oh, and beef jerky. What can I say… the Honolulu fills a lot.

mijas surf club’s girl crush: kylie dewilde
Kylie is the biz-ness. She is a fashionista, mama, loves the earth and sustainable fashion, she’s beautiful and fierce, and we love her. She’s a beach buddy of ours (when she’s in town or we’re on Oahu!), and soul sister who just happens to have a gorgeous company called DeWilde Collective. Handmade butterfly shorts made from second hand aloha shirts are her specialty. We think they go swimmingly with our tees!
We recently caught up with Kylie to check in, check up, and pepper her with our questions.
Q: What are you loving right now?
A: Currently loving spending late afternoons at the beach with Flynn (her 4 year old son), and staying to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. This has been our daily routine lately.
Q: What’s in your beach bag?
A: Lots of snacks for Flynn, Yeti water bottle, Fiber Supply Co. sunscreen, waffle knit towels from a local boutique called the Guava shop.
Q:Favorite car karaoke song?
A: Stacy’s mom, by Fountains of Wayne. It’s been Flynn’s favorite song ever since he was a toddler and he requests it every time we get in the car!
Q:Fave Recipe?
A: I love just about any Half Baked Harvest recipe! (we do too;)

My strong legs, my sturdy frame, my sense of humor, my loudness, my boldness, my directness, my drive to evolve and grow. I am intense, nothing about me is small, it’s what makes me who I am as a woman and an athlete. And when I step into that, I allow my spirit to shine and grow.
Let’s teach our girls to be big in every sense. To take up space. To own their body, their health, their mind, their soul. To be strong and bold. No more shrinking. We were put here to shine, and to help our fellow sisters shine alongside us💗⚡️💪🏽”
We can’t stop talking about her. Her surfing. Her creativity. Her sunshine. We chatted with the Mijas Surf Club Volunteer, surfer, athlete, model and All-Around Queen to get all the deets on what she’s loving lately.
Q: what are you loving right now?
A: I am loving fun bright summer colors for my swimsuits and workout gear. And especially loving that hot pink is back!
Q: What’s in your beach bag?
A: I always have a good book, and extra swimsuit to change into after surfing, sunscreen and watermelon or some kind of a snack.
Q: Favorite car karaoke song?
A: Anything Miranda Lambert!
Q: Fave Recipe?
A: Love a fresh strawberry summer sale or a watermelon salad with feta and cucumber. Anything cool and fresh and nice to bring down to the beach :)
bo’s favorite summer dish: strawberry, watermelon and basil salad with feta
{ drool }
ingredients:
½ medium watermelon
½ lb strawberries, sliced
1 cucumber, quartered and sliced
1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
10-15 mint leaves, roughly chopped
instructions:
Remove the rind from the watermelon and dice into 1-inch pieces and place in a large bowl.
Add strawberries, cucumbers, feta cheese and mint. Gently stir to combine.
Chill for 10 minutes and serve.
